I am Olivia Wynkoop.

A journalist from Dixon, California with a flair for finding the familiar in complex environmental policy.

My mission: to showcase the humanity, intersectional complexities and wonder of climate science.

Nitty-gritty, scientific data is essential to telling stories about climate change. But just as important is compassionate, community-focused angles that can spark empathy for readers who feel distant from environmental topics. I am committed to amplifying underrepresented voices as I analyze California’s ambitious climate plan.

As an editor and climate reporter for Bay City News, I followed breaking news in real-time, with upwards of five stories a day across the 12-county region. My internships at three hyper-local publications gifted me a passion for community stories and politics in the Bay Area. I’ve also seen myself excel in leadership roles as managing and social media editor of San Francisco State’s student-run publication, Golden Gate Xpress.
